Ecemnaz Dalmaz paints the mythological and existential associations of the unconscious by blending them with spaces and objects. Stories from her personal recollections and dreams that are reflected upon two-dimensional surfaces are confrontations with societal consciousness and the political and social elements of contemporary life.

Dalmaz’s works contain figures that echo the artist’s personal life and communal experiences, as well as recurring elements that have become symbolic within the artist’s practice. Within these constructions, Dalmaz embodies the harmony between chaos and fiction. Through hindsights of triggered emotions, as well as personal and societal traumas, the artist exposes the rooms beneath the labyrinths within our minds, and we experience a sort of confrontation and reckoning through the characters depicted. The imagery repeated through the relationship between body and space depicts a universal existentialism, like a woman’s pain in labor.
