Seçil Erel

In her work, Seçil Erel emphasizes the importance of harmony among experiences, particularly focusing on the synchronicity between breath, the alignment of mind and heart, and the joyful coexistence inherent in the state of being. As an artist, her creative process is driven by the intention to infuse positive value into life itself through the content and visual impact of her paintings, aiming to cultivate a better and more beautiful atmosphere. Her aim is to use creativity and artistic elements to create a better and beautiful future.

Seçil Erel is an internationally recognized London-based Turkish-British artist with studios in London and Istanbul. As an artist creating powerful abstract works, she strives to connect reality and beyond reality, while directing her audience to dream, feel, and think, ultimately activating their inner creativity. After graduating from the painting department at Mimar Sinan Fine Art University with undergraduate and Masters degrees, Erel has spent over two decades exhibiting in solo and group exhibitions as well as art fairs, beginning in Türkiye and expanding into Europe, the United States, and most recently the United Kingdom. Her academic contributions include university lectures, participation in specialist conferences and symposia, and artist residencies. Her published works include an artist book with Istanbul Graphic Museum of Arts and exhibition monographs for her solo shows at Gallery Zilberman and Gallery Milli Reasurans, Adas in Istanbul. Upon relocating to London in 2017, Erel began building new associations and collaborations while familiarizing herself with the UK art scene, while maintaining her existing connections with Istanbul and the Turkish art scene. Her professional development was enhanced by a London Creative Network scholarship, and her work received recognition when she was shortlisted for the 253rd Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2021. Beyond art production, Erel is committed to its dissemination as a body of knowledge. She established a series of artist-led sessions (Art Club) to support participants in connecting with their inner creativity. Additionally, she maintains an active role in social responsibility projects through volunteer work.
